- LIS Transformation Charter National Summit
- was held on 5 December 2008 at the National Library, Pretoria
- LIS celebrates first South African to be IFLA President
- Ms Ellen Tise, Senior Director: Library and Information Service at Stellenbosch University, was inaugurated as President of IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) on 27 August 2009 at the final day of the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Milan, Italy. She is the first South African to fill this position.
