ASAIB (Association of Southern African Indexers and Bibliographers)

AVLIN (The African Virtual Library and Information Network) - will be a network of Internet-based information and knowledge resources and services that form a web of virtual libraries and knowledge exchanges, and will link African libraries, information centres and specialized networks.

Biblionef (SA) - The Centre for the Book plays an active role in Biblionef.

CBF (Children's Book Forum) -  The Centre for the Book plays an active part in the CBF.

CHELSA (Committee for Higher Education Librarians of South Africa) - a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2005, and mentions Interlibary Loan, NLSA tariffs, etc. The NLSA is an honorary member of Chelsa. [see also: our Document Supply page]

CDLN (Conference of Directors of National Libraries)

CODESRIA (Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa) - CODESRIA is headquartered in Dakar Senegal. It was established in 1973 as an independent Pan-African research organisation with a primary focus on the social sciences, broadly defined. It is recognised not only as the pioneer African social research organisation but also as the apex non-governmental centre of social knowledge production on the continent.

Digital Fine Art
- The National Library of South Africa has formed a partnership with Digital Fine Art to promote the richness of the library's holdings to as wide an audience as possible. The Library is the custodian of South Africa's largest collection of Africana in published form as well as unique material dating back to the 10th century.
A selection of historical maps, anonymous Khoi sketches and drawings of Cape flora and fauna, thought to have been done by Heinrich Claudius, are available from Digital Fine Art.


EDULIS (Education Library Services) - The Centre for the Book works closely with the EduLiS) of the Western Cape Education Department and is a partner in the Western Cape Education Department campaign in which all primary schools read for 30 minutes daily.
