Foreign Official Publications
The National Library has an extensive collection of international publications from countries such as Germany, Canada, Australia and Belgium, ranging from national bibliographies and publications of other national libraries to complete series of government publications, patent abstracts, statistics, government regulations, international treaties, conventions and agreements, resolutions and reports.
The collection consists of four parts:
- US collection
- UN collection
- Foreign governments
- International organisations
US collection The National Library
receives the official publications of the Federal Government of the
United States in terms of an agreement that dates back to 1898. The
collection does not include publications of private organizations or
individual states.
UN collection The National Library
is a depository library for United Nations material. A collection of
documents and publications of the League of Nations is also
maintained.
Foreign governments A selection of
official publications from foreign countries are available, including
Belgium, Canada, and the Netherlands.
International organisations Some of the international
organisations are related to the United Nations; the nature of the
affiliation varies. These agencies include:
- FAO - Food and Agriculture Organization
- ILO - International Labor Organization
- IMF - International Monetary Fund
- IMO - International Maritime Organization
- LOS - Law of the Sea
- UNCTAD - UN Conference on Trade and Development
- UNESCO - UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
- UNIDIR - UN Institute for Disarmament Research
- UNIDO - UN Industrial Development Organization
- UNRISD - UN Research Institute for Social Development
- World Health Organization
- World Trade Organization
- World Bank
