Document Supply

the countrywide interlibrary loan or interlending scheme provides for book loans or the supply of copies of journal articles to users via their local libraries. The Pretoria campus of the Library coordinates interlending activities and the Southern African Interlending Scheme.

SA National Bibliography

The national bibliography is known as the SANB (South African national bibliography) and is a list of records for items received by the National Library of South Africa on legal deposit. The printed bibliography runs until 1999.

Authority Control

The authority control administers a national system for accurate versions of South African personal and corporate names, series and uniform titles which are made available worldwide for bibliographic use.

MARC Office

MARC 21 is the bibliographic exchange format of choice for most South African libraries. MARC@NLSA is the official MARC office of South Africa and was established in 1997.

Index to South African Periodicals

The Index to South African periodicals, commonly known as ISAP, is a subject index of articles in periodicals published in South Africa. On-line entries date back to 1942. The database contains indexed articles from more than 680 South African periodicals.
