Conservation
Conservation activities include bookbinding, book repairs, conservation treatments and emergency preparedness and response.
Damaged materials in need of repair and materials that need binding or protective enclosures are treated in the conservation laboratory. Most conservation functions are limited to the Library's collections, although advice can be given on how to look after collections. The specialised conservation staff can assist with salvage operations in emergencies involving published materials and also in developing emergency reaction plans.
