28 February 2018: The National Library of South Africa (NLSA), Business Connexion (BCX), and Microsoft SA – Netcampus cordially invites you to a gala dinner aimed at celebrating the official launch and deployment of successful interns to facilitate access and connectivity at libraries in their communities.
Unemployed youth in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) were recruited and underwent a graduate internship programme where they were trained and deployed in their ICT technical support capacity at community libraries. Increasing ICT support in community libraries goes a long way in ensuring that communities have access to information.

The National Library of South Africa (NLSA) through the Mzansi Libraries On-Line Project have partnered with BCX to develop skills among school leaving and unemployed youth in the career field of ICT with the objective of adding ICT technical support capacity at community libraries.
The collaboration will see NLSA and BCX contributing to the skills development initiatives of the National Development Agenda (NDP 2030) and increasing capacity at libraries which are confronted with the challenge of aligning and addressing the developmental needs of communities.
The gala dinner will focus on:
- Communicating and creating awareness of the impact of the Graduate Internship Programme on the lives of the interns.
- Communicating the new role of libraries in empowering communities.
- How technology at public libraries are used to address community needs.
- The deployment of successful interns to specific communities.
