On 21 November 2025, the NLSA CEO delivered a message of support at the Publishing Hub book launch held at the University of South Africa in Pretoria. The DSAC Publishing Hub is a South African programme administered by ANFASA to support authors and revitalise the publishing industry.

The initiative aims to document South African stories in all official languages, including Braille and audio formats, and provides funding to successful authors and publishers. The NLSA is part of the core panel for the project. In his address, the NLSA CEO stressed the importance of partnerships and the NLSA’s commitment to supporting young authors. “

Today’s book launch is further testament to the power of partnership between ANFASA, DSAC, and the writing community and, of course, the commitment by the NLSA and other stakeholders to support this course. Together, we are strengthening the publishing industry and carving out more equitable pathways for writers to be recognised, published, and celebrated.”

The launch also celebrated the contributions of legendary authors who have shaped South Africa’s literary landscape through an award titled Giants of Letters. This was part of celebrating 30 years of democracy, where legendary authors representing all the official South African languages were identified and honoured.
